Age really doesn't matter, but I am 76. Time sure flies when you're having fun. I’ve been sewing since I was 9 years old.
I
started creating embroidery designs in 1994 just before Windows 95 came
out. I self taught myself using the Husqvarna Software and still
use the
latest edition “MySewnet”. I teach a class on the basics of the
software
at The Sew’n Place and Sew’n Sweep upon request. In early 2018 I
started
an Embroidery Sewing Club at the Sew’n Place. We met once a month
to sew
an In-The-Hoop project. And then came Covid !
My Son created “The Bike Store”
website many years ago. He shares
a
portion of the server space with me so I could build BB Embroidery
Designs
website. He lives on the West coast and I live on the East.
I am a one-person
operation. I think up a project and put it on
paper. I start with the item and hope it will always be of
personal use
or something worth gifting or selling. I often follow the
Seasons. Next I
decide what design I want to add to it. It could be a picture I
took of
nature, or something I sketch. I combined the pictures and
sketches until
I’m satisfied with the results. Next is the digitizing.
Sometimes I
get it right the first time, which amazes me. I do all digitizing by
hand. Never auto. Next is the sew-out all while taking
pictures of
each step. Once it meets my stamp of approval, I create the file
formats,
type up the instructions, and create the zip. file. Now is the
time to
upload all the finished “project” pictures to my website and, update
all the
pages that the new design will be placed. Finally I send out the
emails
to notify my friends. All of this takes me about a week. I
love
what I do and I love to share it with anyone that loves to sew as much
as I do.
